I find inspiration all around me. Nature, architecture, shape, and color are all things I notice when I'm out and about. I take note of something that calls my attention and it gets filed away for when it is time to use it.

I have discovered that taking time to play with no projected outcome is important. Sometimes it just moving pieces of shapes around or thinking about how I can incorporate different shapes differently in my work. If I'm feeling uninspired I'll look through textures. I've been known to go to a fabric store and just look at the colors and shapes or look through some pictures of old buildings. I navigate to things with lots of archwork and ironwork.

I love curves and flourishes which is probably why I love filigree. I have to force myself sometimes to work in clean lines and geometrical shapes but I do sometimes. I think it is important to explore things that don't necessarily appeal to you right away. When I do that I think it pushes me outside my comfort zone and I'm always surprised where it leads me. What inspires you? What do you do when you are feeling stuck?
